David G. Chettle

Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada David expressed an early and avid interest in art at the elementary school level. This was not surprising as his maternal grandfather had been a painter of some renown having been commissioned by T. Eaton company of Toronto to illustrate the activities and attitudes of the company at that time. Ironically, years later the Eaton Gallery displayed many of David's sculptures.

While David works primarily in bronze employing the lost wax method of sculpture he also enjoys the other mediums producing fine works in the abstract and realism. Talent is not a learned quality, it is gifted and then refined. David refined his natural talent under the direction of the accomplished sculptress, Almuth Lutkenhaus at Mohawk College in Hamilton.

David is past president of the Burlington Guild of Sculptors where he also taught sculpture. The distinguished Dundas Valley School of Art does not fail to invite David to enter their notable annual art auction where he has sold many pieces. In juried exhibitions David most often enjoys the auspicious position of "best in show" David's sculptures are admired in many collections. Among the recipients are Ronald Reagan while he was President of the United States and Margaret Trudeau while she was Canada's First Lady.
