David Chettle, the sculptor, was born in
Canada, just outside of Toronto. He lived most of his life there, and at the age of 20,
opened his own wrought iron and steel fabrication company. After he married, he and his
wife, Sandra, became land developer/builders. They have one son, Jason, who later married
Stacy, a Missouri girl. This union produced the amazing gift of granddaughter, Mercedes
Sandra. This union also brought David to Missouri and Branson where the rest will become
history. David and his wife retired in their late 40s in Florida where David intended
fully to pursue his artistic ability. In 1994, David moved to Branson and opened an art
gallery. Davids education is self- admittedly "from the school of hard
knocks." As a builder/developer, he has built and designed a wide variety of projects
such as a single car garage right up to a 12-story, 110-unit high-rise apartment building.
Davids mother said she named him after David in the Bible. He certainly has met
Goliath many times in his life and always Goliath has fallen.
